A need tha surely has been among those of EeePC users worlwide is the freedom to choose between Linux and Windows (or two different flavours of Linux) at boot time, so here’s some good news that will surely satisfy all those Eee PC users dreaming to use both Windows AND Linux on their machine (especially in the Xandros-XP mix). We’ve successfully tested a solution that makes finally possibile the boot of Xandros Linux from a pendrive or SD card without affecting the internal EEE PC SSD disk, and this solution is available for any version of the EeePC subnotebook, also on SDHC Class 6 cards (which offer roughly the same performance of the internal SSD unit).
This make possibile, for example, to install a different O.S. on the internal SSD disk like Windows (using for example our backup and restore kit to install a system like XP in ten minutes) and decide, when turning on your EEE PC, simply by pressing the ESC key, to load Windows XP or Linux Xandros at will.
At the same time, there are various great advantages in having Xandros on an external memory unit (pendrive or SD), like the opportunity to assign different configurations to various users using the same Eee PC (for example members of the same family or club) or the chance to keep your own system, software and documents in your pocket thus increasing security and protection of your precious data, and of course the invaluable advantage of reducing the internal SSD access thus extending its lifespan. This special 4 GB pendrive (or SDHC card version of the same capacity, which can also be viewed as an expansion to the internal SSD for its speed and practical use) costs 39 euros (plus shipping expenses) and can be ordered, as usual, from our EEE PC SHOP on eBay, to be shipped in Europe, USA and other countries. Users buying both the EeePC backup-restore kit and the Xandros bootable SDHC or pendrive product can save 15 euros on the overall purchase.
